A lifelong dream of our hotel's founder was to have a restaurant and a hotel. This dream was achieved when opening Estalagem do Mar in 1990. At the time, it was a bold endeavor, as the North of Madeira was not yet a popular destination for tourists. Yet, nestled along the stunning coastline, this wonderful retreat began welcoming guests from around the world. More than three decades later, it remains a place where visitors return time and again—greeted with warm smiles from dedicated staff, including members of the original opening team.
Since 1990, Estalagem do Mar has proudly served as your second family on the North Coast of Madeira.
